About Us

We are registered by the Department of Social Development as a non-profit organization that provides quality residential care for adults with a broad range of physical and developmental disabilities, such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy and Down syndrome to name just a few. Portdunford center seeks to provide the highest quality of life and greatest level of independence for each resident by creating an individualized plan that includes opportunities for personal growth.

Providing social and vocational experiences in the community are key components in an effective program that leads to a life of dignity and independence for each resident.

With trained and certified professionals with some experience, Portdunford center has been a landmark organization in the  community of King Cetshwayo District Municipality It’s nestled in the semi-rural area of Port Dunford. Our residents come from King Cetshwayo district and beyond its boarders

Portdunford center Opens for visiting from Monday to Sunday, 8:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., residents  participate in an intensive day program that focuses on the basic life skills of daily living, including learning how to brush their teeth feeding themselves, but all this is done under supervision by care givers. The key component for achieving the greatest level of independence and highest quality of life is the individualized developed Plan (IDP) for each resident.

We understand that each individual we serve is special and faces unique challenges. That is why the staff at Portduford center is driven by a positive vision set for each person, mapped out with specific goals and a step-by-step plan following detailed analysis conducted by occupational therapists and physiotherapist from nearby hospital experienced in developmental therapy. From this initial assessment, a series of goals are established with an individualized plan to achieve success at every level of every ability.

The Mission for Portdunford Center For The People with physical challenges  is to provide physical, emotional / social and spiritual support to our clients/residents as well as their families and loved ones while enabling them to live with dignity and comfort as they cope with issues  of their health
